Harry Hilser

Forest Bathing ~ Immerse yourself in the grounding principles and practice of shinrin-yoku

Harry Hilser is a forest bathing guide based in South Dartmoor, where he draws upon the ancient beauty and wisdom of these sacred lands to guide others into deepened connection with the more-than-human world. Trained with Nature and Therapy UK since 2021, Harry’s practice is rooted in reverence, reciprocity, and an attunement to interrelatedness. As an environmental social scientist, Harry has conducted extensive research into human-nature relationships and led numerous community engagement initiatives designed to cultivate ecological awareness and kinship with the living world. He brings a lifelong curiosity for exploring the cognitive, behavioural, and psycho-spiritual underpinnings of what makes us human — and how we belong as part of the greater web of life. Having spent many years immersed in rural Indonesia, Harry has learned deeply from indigenous wisdom traditions and community lifeways centred on interconnectedness. He has guided groups in both the UK and internationally, including nature-based experiences at festivals, local events, and intimate forest settings across the globe. Through his UK-based environmental education consultancy, Lestari, and as a member of the Kincentric Leadership community, Harry continues to explore how pro-social and pro-environmental behaviours can emerge from embodied, relational experiences with the natural world. Harry's forest bathing sessions are designed to foster deep connection with the more-than-human world through sensory immersion, stillness, and gentle movement. Rooted in nature connection, animism, and subtle ritual, these sessions invite participants to slow down, attune to the language of the land, and experience the forest not as scenery, but as kin. Through carefully held practices — including silent walking, sensory invitations, seasonal reflection, and time for personal contemplation — Harry creates a space where inner and outer worlds meet, allowing for rest, insight, and a profound sense of belonging, supporting wellbeing, deepen ecological awareness, and offer a grounded path back to wholeness.
