With over a decade dedicated to applied mycology, Lorin is a passionate community builder who loves sharing fungal inspiration and knowledge. He has broad experience ranging from overseeing Europe's largest outdoor medicinal mushroom farm to utilizing fungi for environmental restoration. He also co-founded and headed the mycology department for a fungal biotech company, contributing in it becoming one of the leading companies in Europe in mycology.
Lorin's passion is connecting with people and inspiring them to do new things with fungi or bringing their project to the next level. He previously established a Mycological community in Finland, hosting monthly workshops that explored all sorts of mushroom-related hobbies and skills. Beyond that, Lorin travels widely, sharing his expertise through workshops on diverse topics and skill levels in various countries. For his longtime efforts he received the 2025 Community Mycologist award by the American Mycological Society for extraordinary contribution to the field of Mycology without any related academic title. He currently works as a freelance consultant, collaborating with research institutes and organizations to adopt best mycological practices. Projects he supported are in the field of mycoremediation, medicinal fungi, conservation efforts for and with fungi, fungi materials and species interaction studies to name a few.
