I was born and raised in South Elgin, Illinois, USA. I grew up in a metal working family and my father operated his own engineering business, which I worked in from a young age. At university I studied agriculture, biology, and veterinary medicine. I am a retired veterinarian who specialized in equine practice. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, I was a farrier.I take inspiration for my creations from members of the plant and animal kingdoms, be they real or mythical.I have received no formal training in the arts and I believe that being an artist is something that one is born to do, and not learned in school. I draw inspiration from studying the works of artists such as Andy Scott and Robin Wight. My creations continue to evolve and and are born through practical experience and much trial and error.Through my veterinary training, my knowledge of anatomy is a key component in my creative process. I feel it allows me a unique insight into form and proportion and helps me bring elements of realism to abstract objects.I work in various metals, stained glass, and illumination techniques. I currently have a studio in Wilmington, East Sussex, England on the edge of the Southdowns National Park.
