Alfred Drummond-Herdman

What time-lapse photography reveals about fungi

Alfred is a mycologist based in Edinburgh. His main interests are coprophilous fungi (dung fungi) and the taxonomy of the Psathyrellaceae and Bolbitiaceae. His work in this field includes describing new species and publishing papers, giving talks, and documenting fungi through macro photography and film. Alfred creates macro time-lapses of fungi that are often small and overlooked. He aims to use these time-lapses to show that there is remarkable beauty and complexity in nature at a scale slightly smaller than we are used to observing, in habitats that many may overlook. His work can be viewed on Instagram: @scottish.fungi.
