With a background in fungal ecology, Joette currently works as a researcher and PhD candidate developing best practices for conserving threatened fungi. She previously managed the laboratory at a mushroom biotech company, overseeing regular mushroom production of various species and mycological R&D projects before deciding to apply that fungal cultivation expertise to conservation efforts. Joette's main interest lies in using applied mycology in habitat restoration projects. Joette loves experimenting with mushroom cultivation at home where she is growing a wide range of species for artistic and handicraft purposes, foods and teas, and simple scientific curiosity.
